Lost history - political Red Cross of Georgia
01 Feb, 2015

The research was done within the framework of the project ''Lost History – Memory between Resistance and Cooperaton'' supported by Heinrich Boell Foundation South Caucasus Regional Office. The research aimed to study the work of ''Political Red Cross'' – an illegal organization in late XIX and early XX centuries that worked in Georgia with the aim of helping political prisoners. The organization, most members of which were female, worked illegally almost until the end of the 1930's and helped political prisoners and their families; it also fought for political rights and for improvement of the conditions of political prisoners. This lost history is an interesting page from the history textbook necessary to understand the experience of solidarity, cooperation and self-organization in our society.

As a result of the project, a book ''Lost History – Georgia's Political Red Cross'' was published.
