Sovlab, with financial support of DVV Internationl Georgia, has been working since 2013-2014 on precisely locating and studying the mass graves of the victims of Soviet Terror. The research primarily focuses on the sites where mass executions of those who opposed the Soviet regime and of the victims of the mass terror were carried out. Up until today, no such place has scientifically identified and studied because no research has ever been done since the early 1990's and the Soviet regime took extremely secretive measures to carry out mass executions, including choosing highly secretive geographic locations. During the late period Sovlab has identified the locations of such places in Tbilisi, Telavi, Gori, Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Batumi etc. The research and analysis is still underway in these zones to identify and study the graves criminalistic and archaeologically which require formidable financial and technological capacities as well as involvement at the national and international level.
