The project ''Virtual Platform – Understanding the Soviet Past'' commenced in January 2010 with financial support of Open Society Georgia. It was the first cooperative project of the organization and the foundation. The project consisted of three significant components:

to create a website for the organization.

To organize discussions concerning Georgia's Soviet past.

To record ten interviews / oral histories of the victims of the Soviet repressions or their family members.

Soviet Research Past Laboratory cooperated with The Goethe-Institut Georgia and a news agency www.netgazeti.ge.

The video recordings made during the project are available on the YouTube channel of the organization.

The transcripts of the recordings were published as an anthology.

The oral stories recorded within the project's framework are available at the Public Archive.
